Each year, Lincoln Foundation awards the Dr. Samuel Robinson Award of Excellence to a Whitney M. Young scholar who exemplifies outstanding achievement, leadership, and commitment. The recipient also receives the Educational Opportunity Scholarship, bringing the total award package to up to $40,000—including support for tuition, technology, and study abroad. This comprehensive investment helps prepare scholars for success in college and beyond.

Lincoln Foundation is pleased to present the 2026 Dr. Samuel Robinson Award of Excellence and the Educational Opportunity Scholarship to Tammy Truong.

Tammy is a senior at duPont Manual High School with a 4.2 GPA, 13 AP courses, and an exceptional record of leadership and service. From leading multiple student organizations to founding a youth program serving more than 100 students and co-creating a major cultural event, Tammy reflects the transformative impact of the Whitney M. Young Scholars Program.

She will attend Emory University on a full-tuition scholarship, pursuing a future in consulting and nonprofit leadership.

Tammy’s story demonstrates how the Whitney M. Young Scholars Program empowers students to excel academically, lead with purpose, and create lasting change.
