College Choice: Lawrence Technological University
Khatrice Antoinette Murrell is a senior at Atherton High School. She has been in the Whitney M. YOUNG Scholars Program® since the 7th grade. She received the honor of being a Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP) State Award recipient for scoring a 19 on the ACT as a 7th grader.
At Atherton, Khatrice has taken mostly honors, AP, and IB (International Baccalaureate) classes. She is an active member of the National Honors Society and the Japanese National Honors Society. She has earned a cumulative 3.4 weighted grade point average and scored a 29 on the ACT.
Khatrice is involved in many extracurricular activities. She is a musical artist and songwriter. She is also a member of the Atherton High School Bowling Team and has served as the team captain during her junior and senior years. She is ranked 7th amongst the top 10 female bowlers in the state, and she is a nominee for the Courier-Journals All-Area Girls Bowlers of the Year. Khatrice is also a member of her school’s Green Dot Club and a member of the Phenomenal Women program. Khatrice is an active volunteer, accumulating over 700 service hours at her school and for area organizations, including Lighthouse Academy and Wayside Christian Mission. She has also served as a Scholar Ambassador for Lincoln Foundation.
In the fall, Khatrice plans to attend Lawrence Technological University. She will pursue a degree in architecture.
