Ja’Leah Ranae Beason is a senior at Central High School where she has been recognized as an honor student all four years. She takes pride in her academic achievements and for being a Whitney M. YOUNG Scholar.
Ja’Leah was inducted into the National Honor Society as a junior. She also serves as a student ambassador to mentor entering Freshman and their families. Ja’Leah has been a participant in the Summer Law Institute sponsored by the Louisville Bar Association and the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law winning 1st place in the Justice William E. McAnulty Jr. Essay Contest in 2018 and 2nd place in 2019. She has also given back to the community serving as a volunteer for Wayside Christian Mission.
The Whitney M. YOUNG Scholars Program® has elevated Ja’Leah’s learning experiences and shaped her into an open-minded, bright student. The program helped her develop interpersonal skills and strengthened her ability to interact with many diverse individuals and advocate for herself.
Ja’Leah plans to attend Bellarmine University, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. While working on her degree, she also plans to gain further work experience at Norton Children’s Hospital with the ultimate career goal of
becoming a traveling neonatal nurse.
