Briona Young

High School: duPont Manual High School
College Choice: Murray State University

Briona Young is a senior at duPont Manual High School and has been in the Whitney M. YOUNG Scholars Program® since the 7th grade. As Briona advanced through the program, she discovered a love for public speaking and was encouraged to pursue a career in law.

At Manual, Briona earned a 3.8 cumulative GPA. She has been a member of the Mock Trial Club for six years and served as the co-team captain for the past two years. Briona has also participated in the annual Mock Trial competition earning the Best Lawyer Award four years in a row. Outside of school, Briona works parttime as a translator for a local bankruptcy law firm.

Briona will be attending Murray State University in the fall. She is the recipient of the school’s prestigious Presidential Fellowship. Briona plans to major in political science with a minor in Spanish. Following graduation, Briona plans to attend the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Her ultimate goal is to become a bilingual immigration attorney.
